Niagara Flame & Light Flicker - UE5 Torch | Fire Part 1

About this tutorial

Welcome to Part 1 of my Torch Fire series! In this video, we create a complete torch fire effect inside Unreal Engine 5.7.

We start by building the flame using a flipbook texture and Niagara system, then shape and refine the fire step by step to achieve a natural look.

• Creating a fire flipbook material
• Setting up a Niagara emitter
• Understanding emitter and particle stages
• Adding a Point Light for scene illumination
• Creating a dynamic flicker using a Light Function material

By the end of this part, you’ll have a clean and fully working torch fire with natural movement and dynamic lighting.

In the next part, we’ll add embers and smoke, then attach the torch to a character’s hand with proper animation and interaction.

Fire FlipBook Prompt: Generate a 1024 × 1024 pixel transparent flipbook texture of realistic torch fire for use in Unreal Engine 5 Niagara.

Specifications:

• The texture must contain 64 individual fire frames
• Layout: 8 rows × 8 columns
• Each frame size: 128 × 128 pixels
• The entire image background must be fully transparent
• Each individual frame must also have a fully transparent background (no solid or colored background)
• Do NOT include any grid lines or frame separators
• In every frame, the fire should be bottom-centered (aligned to the lower middle of the frame)
